The Playroom

Our playful space offers children, teenagers and parents an environment where words are not required and play is acknowledged as the means of communication. As an experienced therapist, I create a safe and accepting space where children and adolescents can have words put into the play experience to assist in the integration of experience into working memory. Verbal and non-verbal communication are both assessed and utilized as tools for understanding what cannot be spoken. Supporting children, teens and parents to understand themselves and also each other to build stronger more resilient relationships whereby children and families are no longer ruled by their behaviours or Diagnoses.

When would play therapy be helpful?

Children that have experienced adverse circumstances develop adaptive behaviours to protect their most precious resource, their Self. To assist in the reduction of adaptive behaviours Play Therapy helps by building other resources within and around the child and family.
